This ceramic vase with a handle and white glaze finish comes from the wheel of José Antonio, a potter from Huelva who began working with clay at age 12. He has 35 years of experience.
The paint on all these pieces crackles due to the high firing temperatures, giving this ceramic its characteristic appearance (craquelure).
The pieces he makes in his workshop are made from yellow clay that turns red when fired. When they reach the hardness of leather, he removes them from the kiln, coats them in glaze, and fires them again. The final finish is a shiny, crackled varnish.
