The year that the confectionary company, 'La Caja Real' opened its doors was the same time that Isabel II reigned Spain, the first trains began to run around the country, the Madrid Royal Theatre opened and the large pine trunks were sent down the Guadalquivir river from 'la Sierra de Cazorla' (in Jaén) to Seville.
The master pastry artisan, Rafael Galván Gómez, who started the family line of masters in pastry making, continues to make his creations famous, by sharing his recipes in his recipe book. His family successors, which currently are his great great grandchildren continue to use the essentials from the original recipes.
