Sanandresiño Pigeon - Inner Peace
The making of the Sanandresiños originates from the Reginas de Cedeira, a family that for centuries, designed and produced these charms and have passed the business and skills from generation to generation. These figures are appreciated due to the long hours of hard work and dedication that are put in by the inhabitants of San Andrés. Each figure is blessed by the town, giving each one its magical powers.
The 'sanandresiños' or 'sanandreses' are handmade charms in San Andrés de Teixido and sold exclusively on site. These are bread crumb good luck charms (a symbol of hospitality and friendship) that are shaped as different figures related to San Andrés, bringing luck to those who have them. Each one of them symbolises a particular goal or meaning that the person who owns it wants to achieve, such as: food, friendship, love, studies, peace, protection, health, work and travel.
The medium size is perfect to hang as an ornament on your Christmas tree, the mini size can serve as a charm on a bracelet or as a pendant on a necklace.
They are figures of unfermented bread dough that the residents themselves knead and shape, then cook, and finally carefully coloured with aniline dye. Each figure is unique because they are modelled by hand by different countrymen from San Andrés de Teixido.
- Medium: 11 x 10 cm approx
- Mini: 4 x 3.5 cm approx
The dove symbolises peace with others and with oneself. The colours can vary depending on the stock, but don't worry, they are all special.
Being a handmade product made from painted unfermented bread dough, it is recommended that you keep it stored in a cool, dry area away from direct sunlight. This product is not the most durable, due to its composition. It will last anywhere between 30 days and 1 year.
