Quince Paste La Góndola - from Puente Genil
This quince paste is traditionally made in Córdoba using seasonal fresh fruit. Quinces are carefully harvested and selected in September at the perfect ripeness. The quince plant fruit comes from a tree that is quite similar to the almond tree. The fruit is taken at the correct ripeness to make this paste, that's why this is one of the best quince pastes you'll ever try. It is quite firm and has a lot of flavour, so it's perfect with cheese!
La Góndola is a family company that started in 1914 when D. Antonio Aguilar Berral decided to make something with all the fruit trees and olive trees he owned. He mixed the high quality olive oil with the quince from his trees to create this tasty paste that used ingredients that were of much higher quality than others that were available at the time! This is why the Cordoban population of Puente Genil, located on the banks of the Genil River can boast the best tradition of creating and producing the best quince meat in the world!
