Ecru Brown Line Maragata Wool Blanket

The well-known "Mantas Maragatas del Val" have been made from Pure Virgin Wool blankets since time immemorial, with traditional and artisanal manufacturing.

Textile craftsmanship in Val de San Lorenzo in León has a long tradition. In the mid-eighteenth century there were eighty-one cloth manufacturers in the town. We have documentation from the seventeenth century onwards about merchants who came to buy cloth in the Val, and without a doubt the blankets and covers created by the Maragato artisans in this town were the most prestigious among the entire society of the time. The main characteristic of these fabrics is the impressive degree of insulation of the sheep's wool through a traditional process of obtaining and carding, thousands of natural "air chambers" are achieved to insulate from the cold.

Obtaining the colours, also based on natural dyes, makes the blankets from the Val even more characteristic, as well as the Maragata legend "Long live my owner" with which the merchants travelled in their carts, travelling around Spain, keeping warm with the blankets from the Val de San Lorenzo.

The wool is 100% pure sheep, and the manufacturing processes result in a lightweight fabric that retains heat while being perfectly breathable.

• Natural wool has a certain characteristic smell of virgin wool (zero softeners and zero chemicals), which disappears over time and with washing.

Possibility of washing: by hand, with cold water (<30º) and neutral detergent or special detergent for wool, avoiding hitting or rubbing. Leave to drain horizontally. Avoid direct sunlight. Dry cleaning in a professional service is more advisable. To keep them in good condition, air them on a clothesline to remove dust and odours periodically.
