These chestnut wood baskets are handcrafted by expert artisans in Salamanca. The tradition of working with this wood is a distinctive feature of the region, although it is unfortunately in decline.

These chestnut wood baskets are handcrafted by The process begins with the hand-picking of the wood into sticks, followed by roasting in an oven which removes the moisture and imparts a shade of colour. The sticks are then cut into ribs – the thin strips which are carefully braided together. Each leaf is carefully moistened to achieve the necessary flexibility and ensure a perfect finish
