The origin of this jewel of our confectionery and Christmas desserts dates back to the 16th century, during the reign of one of our most famous monarchs in history. When the Count of Benavente offered King Philip II and his wife one of these sweets, they were fascinated by its exquisiteness.
Its traditional, completely artisanal preparation and its recipe, faithfully preserved from generation to generation, have earned them top awards, making them almost legendary.
