The Palmaria name goes back to Roman times, who in the year 123 BC, founded the city of Palma de Mallorca, baptising it as 'Palmera palmensis' (palm tree of victory). The palm tree, which is the Roman symbol for victory, is in the Palmaria logo, along with the winged lion.
