Rioja Sierra Cantabria Crianza Wine 2016
Sierra Cantabria Crianza is a red wine from the D.O. La Rioja produced by Bodegas Sierra Cantabria. It is a single varietal Tempranillo grape. It rests in Bordeaux barrels of French and American oak for approximately 14 months. It is an intense, tasty and expressive red wine. This vintage further enhances the fruit above the roasted notes of the aging. The Eguren family has a long history of winemaking, has been dedicated to winemaking since 1870, but it has been in recent years, coinciding with the arrival of Miguel and Marcos Eguren to the management of the family business, when they have acquired a role significant in the elite of Spanish viticulture. And not only for the excellent trajectory of Sierra Cantabria, the oldest winery in the family (which has been making wines in Rioja under this name since 1957), but also for the promotion of its many other projects: the Señorío de San Vicente (founded in 1991 with an almost extinct grape, the hairy Tempranillo); Viñedos de Páganos (with an underground winery close to the La Rioja town of Laguardia) and Teso La Monja, which represents this family's commitment to D.O. Toro, after having sold the first winery in this area, Numanthia-Termes, to the Moët Hennessy group.
