Along with the classics The Complete Kitchen and Home Preserves, you can't miss this work by the Marchioness of Parabere. The first edition from 1936 has been reproduced, but all the recipes that are included are perfectly doable today.
The author herself explained in the prologue to the first edition that "the recipes have been passed down from mothers to daughters, and have now become available to us, and have been refined over the years, and that it would be a real disaster for our national gastronomy to lose them" But the marchioness adds all of her cooking knowledge to her book. She perfects and adapts some methods, and adds "a bit of science and a little bit of the modern technology" in addition to including some preserves from other countries.
The reader will find many forgotten recipes, will discover how to improve others that they already know and will remember the taste of some that they tried throughout their childhood.
